Not sure what the smell was in the elevator but it was not good at all. Mom kind of got after my dad in this video clip as he picked up a piece of trash paper that had something wet on it that had fallen out of the phone box when he opened it up to put it back in the phone box. :) It is usually me she will get after about stuff like that and washing hands after exploring elevators. This hotel was kind of strange as you go in through lobby then go to key card lock door that leads to the hallway where elevator is located and that part is enclosed but when you up on the elevator the hallways on guest floors are an outside corridor
